Columbia man charged with four felonies after chase with Callaway County deputies
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Columbia man has been charged with four felonies in Callaway County after leading law enforcement on a chase on Saturday.
Alquino Porter, 38, was charged with second-degree drug trafficking, aggravated fleeing, resisting arrest and three misdemeanors: Driving without a license, following another vehicle too closely and failure to register a vehicle. He is being held at the Callaway County Jail without bond. A court date has not been scheduled.
According to the probable cause statement, the Callaway County Sheriff’s Office received a Flock camera notification about a stolen vehicle from St. Louis heading toward the area on Saturday night. Porter was allegedly driving the 2007 Chevrolet Impala 108 miles an hour on Interstate 70 when he drove through Callaway County, the statement says.
Porter allegedly weaved in and out of traffic with the Impala in a construction zone, the statement says. A Callaway County deputy deployed spikes at mile marker 138, but another vehicle drove over them and injured the deputy, the statement says.
Porter then allegedly drove the car to Columbia, got off at the Highway 63 interchange and eventually drove the wrong way on Conley Road before crashing, the statement says. Porter tried to run away, but law enforcement used a Taser and arrested him, the statement says.
Deputies then found Porter had nearly 2 pounds of methamphetamine on him, the statement says. Court documents say his license was expired and he claimed he bought the vehicle, but forgot to register it with the Missouri Department of Revenue, the statement says.
