RECAP: Mizzou maintaining belief despite suffering second loss of season

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (KMIZ)

Ravaged by injuries, Mizzou's road trip to Tuscaloosa featured a mistake-filled performance that cost the Tigers their second loss of the 2024 season. Despite trailing by just six points with less than five minutes left until halftime, MU committed three turnovers that turned the tide. Mizzou allowed Alabama to post 21 points and 319 total yards in the second half alone, ending the evening with the program's first shutout loss of the Eli Drinkwitz era. While the result was frustrating, MU is focused on sticking together and believing in the success this season could still yield.

"I told them before the game, no matter what happened, I wasn't going to be any more proud. I loved them, right, and I lied to them. I was proud of them. I was more proud of them after that game. The way they faced adversity," Drinkwitz said. "There's a lot of pride and a lot of fight in that locker room and we're all disappointed in the result. We all came with a plan to win, and it just wasn't our day today. We're not going to get divided. We're not going to point fingers. We're going to go back, get healthy this week and finish out this stretch."

"College football is crazy these days with the playoffs. We have two losses and we still have a lot ahead of us. We have everything we want ahead of us, so I guarantee you every single guy in that locker room is going to hold their head high and come to practice next week to give everything they can," Mizzou quarterback Drew Pyne said. "We're going to come back swinging."
