RECAP: Brady Cook’s gritty return from injury lifts Mizzou to a comeback win on homecoming
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Through the first three quarters of Saturday's homecoming game against Auburn, things did not look good for the Mizzou football team. Starting quarterback Brady Cook had gone down with an injury on the first drive of the game, the offense was struggling to get the chains moving in his absence and the other Tigers led by 11 points.
However, midway through the third quarter, after a trip to the hospital and about an hour and a half out of the game, Cook returned to the sideline.
"You know, I realized I had two and a half games left to play in Faurot, in front of that crowd and and in front of Mizzou," he said. "We were going to find a way. I knew we were down. I knew we needed to come back."
The St. Louis native went on to lead his Tigers on two touchdown drives, one of which was a 95-yard game winning series.
