North Columbia road closed as police search area

Derby Ridge Drive in north Columbia was closed off by police on Thursday night.

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A northern Columbia street was closed off on Thursday night as police investigated the area.

Boone County Joint Communications sent a notification at 10:25 p.m. stating that Derby Ridge Drive was closed from Bold Venture Drive to Bold Ruler Court.

An ABC 17 News reporter At least seven Columbia police officers were searching the area with flashlights. A K-9 was also brought out by police.

Police were seen looking at a car with apparent damage on back of the vehicle.

Columbia Police Department spokesman Brian McNeill told ABC 17 News in a Friday morning email that police were called for a report of shots fired at 10:10 p.m. in the 1500 block of Native Dancer Court. McNeill wrote that police found evidence of shots being fired, but did not say if property damage was observed.
