Two Columbia men charged with trafficking stolen identities, stealing more than $6,500 worth of items

Two Columbia men were charged with several felonies on Wednesday.
Jayqual Hayes-Sanders, 20, of Columbia, was charged with trafficking in stolen identities, five counts of stealing more than $750, two counts of stealing other property, first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and sale/possession of equipment with altered identification numbers.
He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. A court date has not been set.
Deontral Weston, 21, of Columbia, was charged with trafficking stolen identities, three counts of stealing more than $750 and two counts of stealing other property. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. A court date has not been set.
According to the probable cause statement, someone reported to police on Monday that two Airpod Max headphones were stolen, which were worth $550 apiece. One of the pairs of headphones was found while police were executing a search warrant at a residence, the heavily redacted statement says. Hayes-Sanders was later seen driving a stolen Dodge Charger with a VIN number from another vehicle, court documents claim.
More than $6,500 worth of stolen items were found at the residence, including laptops, a checkbook, a check made out to another person, a purse with a wallet, headphones, a Gucci bag, credit and debit cards, five Missouri driver’s licenses, two passports, a Social Security card and more, court documents say.
Court documents say Hayes-Sanders is on federal probation from a case in New York. Weston was charged earlier this year with first-degree tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest after allegedly leading troopers and deputies on a chase in June in Callaway and Boone counties.
Weston has a preliminary hearing scheduled for 9 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 in Boone County and another hearing at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 25 in Callaway County.
