Jefferson City Council approves $86M budget

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

The Jefferson City Council unanimously approved the 2025 budget at its meeting on Monday night.

Councilman Mark Schwartz motioned to move to adopt the annual budget from the informal calendar with a roll call vote.

The council adopted a substitute bill which is only a few dollars different than the approved budget proposed to the City Council by Mayor Ron Fitzwater in August.

The total approved budget is $86,463,675.

According to city documents, the general fund budget is projected to be at $41,093,639 with funds for parks and recreation, airport, parking, wastewater and capital project funds making up the other $45 million of the budget.

The budget will go into effect on Nov. 1 when the 2025 fiscal year begins.

The 2025 budget is about $3 million more than the budget approved for 2024.
