UPS truck catches on fire and shuts down I-70 Wednesday night

BOONE COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A UPS truck caught on fire and closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 in Boone County on Wednesday night.

Boone County Fire Protection District Assistant Chief Gale Blomenkamp said that the driver was able to get out of the semi and was not injured.

The truck was carrying mixed cargo and the tractor caught fire, Blomenkmap said.

According to Boone County Joint Communications, a semi caught fire near the Rocheport Missouri River Bridge around 9:20 p.m.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F said in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that the tractor-trailer was engulfed near the 116 mile marker. The patrol encouraged drivers to avoid the area.
