Las Vegas memorial to mass shooting victims should be complete by 10th anniversary

Associated Press

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas officials say they will unveil a permanent memorial to victims of the 2017 mass shooting on the Strip by the 10th anniversary of the attack. Monday’s announcement came one day before the seventh anniversary of the shooting. Fifty-eight people died in the attack and hundreds more were injured when a gunman opened fire into a crowded country music festival. Two more people died from their wounds in subsequent years. The nonprofit in charge of fundraising and construction says it hopes to break ground at the site of the shooting within six months.
