Royals close out the regular season with a win; attention turns to October

ATLANTA, Ga. (KMIZ)

The playoff-bound Kansas City Royals ended the 2024 regular season with a 4-2 win over the Atlanta Braves, on Sunday, to finish the year with a mark of 86-76. The victory also stopped the Braves from notching a sweep over KC.

Scoring-wise, all it took was a couple of home runs off the bats of Michael Massey and Hunter Renfroe to seal the win for skipper Matt Quatraro's team.

On the hill, Alec Marsh earned his ninth victory of the season. He threw for five innings and allowed just one run on five hits, while striking out two batters.

Kansas City will now turn all their attention to the start of a new season: the playoffs. The club is set to make its first playoff appearance since winning the World Series back in 2015.

Up next - the Royals will travel to Baltimore to take on the Orioles in game one of the American League Wild Card. The best-of-three series will begin at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1.
