Traffic impacts expected in downtown Columbia for Mid-Missouri PrideFest parade

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mid-Missouri's 2024 PrideFest kicks off day two of the weekend event with its annual PrideFest parade on Sunday. Traffic impacts are to be expected in and around downtown Columbia.

According to PrideFest's website, the parade starts at noon at the Armory Sports and Recreation Center on E. Ash St.

The parade will go down E. Ash St., then onto North 9th St., down E. Broadway and ending on North 5th St.

According to the emergency plan for the event, road closure signs will be placed near Park Ave. and St. James St. Safety Officers will also be stationed along the parade route to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

People with disabilities are encouraged to find the designated viewing areas along the route for the best view of the event.

The parade is expected to wrap up around 1 p.m. Drivers should stay alert for people walking to and from the event.

PrideFest also has an emergency procedure plan in place if any issues were to arise.
