Columbia man arrested, charged with first-degree assault

A Columbia man who was charged with assault has been booked into the Boone County Jail.
George Patten, 61, was charged on Friday with first-degree assault and misdemeanor property damage. He was booked into the Boone County Jail at 2:46 p.m. Thursday. An initial court appearance was held on Friday. His next court date has not been announced.
According to the probable cause statement, police were called for a reported of an assault on Sept. 21 and saw the victim with several injuries; including cuts, bleeding, their teeth knocked out and they were losing consciousness.
The victim allegedly told police that “George” assaulted them and was able to provide a phone number, the statement says. Police records indicated that the phone number belonged to Patten, the statement says.
The victim allegedly told police that Patten was helping them move items for a garage sale. Patten allegedly went inside of an RV that was parked at the residence, took off his pants and placed sex toys around himself, the statement says. Patten then allegedly asked the victim if they would “help” him and the victim said no, court documents say.
Court documents say Patten then assaulted the victim until they were unconscious. The victim then tried to leave the RV when they woke up, and Patten prevented them from leaving and assaulted them again, the statement says.
The victim was eventually able to run to a neighbor’s house and the neighbor called police the statement says. Multiple people told police that Patten assaulted the victim, court documents say.
