Tracking rain chances from expected remnants of Hurricane Helene

TODAY: Skies start mostly sunny Thursday, with highs reaching upper 70s amid a light north breeze.

TONIGHT: Temperatures will be slightly warmer overnight, with increasing cloud cover.

EXTENDED: Showers may return near I-44 after midnight, and continue to spread northwest through Friday. There is still some question as to how far west rain spreads, but only in rain chance. If it spreads northwest of Jefferson City at all, it won't bring much accumulation in the rain gauge. Any measurable rain of note looks to remain southeast of Jefferson City, with folks near I-44 being unlikely to see more than a half an inch. Probabilities of a half inch near Jefferson City are closer to 10%, and likely lower for Columbia. North and west of here, folks will be lucky to see any rain. Some showers may linger Saturday, but it's looking mostly dry. Sunday through Wednesday is dry in the forecast, with highs in the upper 70s through Monday, before a dry cold front drops highs into the low 40s by midweek.
