MU Health Care to host drive-thru vaccination event Saturday
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
MU Health Care is encouraging people to stay up to date on their vaccinations. The healthcare provider is hosting a drive-thru COVID-19 and flu vaccination event in Columbia at South Providence Medical Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Flu shots are available to anyone 6 months and older while updated COVID-19 vaccines are open for anyone over the age of five.
MU Health Care will have two additional drive-thru days on Oct. 12 and Oct. 26 in Columbia.
Patients are asked to wear loose clothing and short sleeves, especially for young children who will get the shot in the thigh. Patients should also bring their insurance card and be prepared to sign a consent form before the vaccine.
According to MU Health Care's announcement, MU Health Care Chief Medical Officer Dr. Laura Morris said, “We are so pleased to offer this convenient option in hopes of reducing serious respiratory illnesses and hospitalizations during the winter months.”
Morris recommends that everyone age 6 months and older get a flu and COVID-19 vaccination. There is also no health risks of getting both a flu and COVID-19 vaccination at the same time.
MU Health Care is hosting flu and COVID-19 drive-thru vaccination clinics through the months of September and October.
Outside of Columbia, MU Health Care will host walk-in clinic events throughout the month in Ashland, Boonville, Mexico and Jefferson City.
Fulton Family Health will also host a drive-thru vaccination event on Oct. 19.
