Mizzou Soccer routed by No. 3 Arkansas, extends SEC winless skid
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KMIZ)
Mizzou Soccer's streak of games without an SEC win has now reached 11 straight contests. No. 3 Arkansas outmatched the Tigers on Sunday afternoon, cruising past Stefanie Golan's group 8-2 at Razorback Stadium.
MU's last win against a conference opponent was on Sept. 15 of last season, a 3-2 victory over Florida in Gainesville.
Six different Arkansas players found the back of the net in the first half alone to build a commanding 6-0 lead at halftime. The Razorbacks also tallied two more goals in the final 45 minutes from Ava Tankersley and Makenzie Malham, who both finished the contest one score shy of a hat trick.
The lone bright spots for MU were Leah Selm and Kylee Simmons, who were able to connect for two goals in the second half. Both Tigers have now scored a pair of goals this season.
Mizzou got outshot by Arkansas 23-8 on Sunday, and the Razorbacks also posted 12 more shots on goal than the Tigers.
Up next - Golan and company will work to improve on their 2-6-1 record in a road game at Tuscaloosa on Thursday. Mizzou is scheduled to face Alabama on Sept. 26 at 7 p.m.
