Tracking beneficial rainfall and isolated storm potential
TONIGHT: I'm tracking a brief break in rainfall across central Missouri before another round of more widespread and heavier rainfall moves in from the west overnight. Temperatures will drop into the high 60s by the end of the night and winds will shift into the north at 5-8 mph.
TOMORROW: The majority of central and northern Missouri will be waking up to widespread rainfall, with rainfall totals reaching 1.5-2" by the later afternoon hours. Cloud cover, rainfall, and winds out of the north in central Missouri will lead to temperatures only topping out in the mid 70s by the afternoon hours. With less rainfall and cloud cover to the south, a chance to see an isolated severe storm is not out of the question in the afternoon. If a storm does become severe, damaging winds will be the main concern.
EXTENDED: Showers and storms will be sticking around through Monday and exiting the region by Tuesday. The good news is, the cold front that is driving our rainfall and storms will be ushering in much cooler weather. This means that all of next week will have below or around average temperatures for this time of the year. Expect morning temperatures to be in the mid to upper 50s and afternoon temperatures to be in the upper 60s and low 70s.
