Jefferson City woman charged after chase tops 100 mph

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Prosecutors charged a Jefferson City woman with a felony and three misdemeanors after she allegedly led police on a chase into Callaway County on Wednesday.

Krystal M. Tucker was charged Thursday with aggravated fleeing a stop, a felony, and the misdemeanors of failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, failure to register and driving without a license.

The chase reached a top speed of 123 mph, police wrote in a probable cause statement. A patrol vehicle's window was chipped when Tucker's Lincoln threw a rock from its tires, the statement says.

Tucker was driving a black Lincoln near Missouri Boulevard and West McCarty Street when a community police aide tried to pull the vehicle over at about 12:40 p.m., the Jefferson City Police Department says in a news release.

The chase continued through the city, crossing the Missouri River bridge and going north on Highway 54. The Missouri State Highway Patrol and Callaway County Sheriff's Office joined the chase and spike strips disabled the vehicle.

Police say in the statement that Tucker knew she was being pulled over and didn't stop because she was afraid.

Her arraignment is set for Friday. She remained in the Cole County Jail on a $5,000 bond Thursday afternoon.
