Jefferson City man charged in July crash that caused serious injuries

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A Jefferson City man has been charged with DWI in relation to a July 8 crash that injured himself and a woman.

Zachary Parsons was charged with driving while intoxicated – causing serious physical injury and two misdemeanors: Fourth-degree assault and reckless driving. A no-bond warrant was issued on Wednesday. He was not listed on the Cole County Jail roster on Wednesday afternoon.

The probable cause statement says Parsons caused a crash after driving the wrong way in the eastbound lane of Highway 50/63. According to previous reporting, Parsons and a woman who was driving another vehicle were seriously injured and were flown to University Hospital. Court documents say that Parsons was driving more than 90 miles per hour at the time of the crash.  

The probable cause statement says that Parsons smelled like alcohol and that two beer cans – one of which was opened -- were found in the vehicle. Parsons allegedly refused to take a breath, but eventually consented for a blood drawn test, the statement says.
