A man charged in a crash that killed an Osage Beach police officer could be charged with murder.

Camden County Prosecutor Richelle Grosvenor filed a motion on Tuesday to charge Christopher Aaron Bishop Wehmeyer with second-degree murder. He is currently charged with aggravated fleeing from a traffic stop resulting in death.

A hearing in the case will be held at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Wehmeyer, 23, of Camdenton, is being held at the Camden County Jail without bond.

Officer Phylicia Carson died after she lost control of her vehicle while chasing Wehmeyer on Aug. 31. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wehmeyer allegedly told investigators that he was racing and chose not to stop when he saw police lights, court documents in previous reporting say.
