Large police presence in Southwest Columbia Sunday morning

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A large police presence was seen in a Southwest Columbia neighborhood early Sunday morning.

An ABC 17 News reporter saw multiple Columbia police department vehicles on West Georgetown Dr. just after 11 p.m. The reporter overheard police yelling at a person inside a home to come out with their hands above their head because they were under arrest.

Neighbor Lena Kolostov came to check out what was happening after receiving a phone call from her mother, who heard a commotion in the area.

"My mom called me earlier because she said she heard maybe a young girl screaming or something, and she wanted to know where I was, and make sure that I was safe," Kolostov said.

ABC 17 news also saw a bearcat along with a Boone County Sheriff's Office cruiser when the scene was cleared around 1:15 a.m.

ABC 17 News reached out to CPD for more information.
