Montgomery City man arrested after 2-year-old dies

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 35-year-old man was arrested Tuesday evening after a 2-year-old was found dead in an apartment.

Bryan Danter, of Montgomery City, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree endangering the welfare of a child, second-degree drug trafficking and drug possession, according to a Wednesday night press release from the Missouri State Highway Patrol. Charges have yet to appear on Casenet.

Danter is being held at the Montgomery County Jail, the release says. Police and MSHP were called to an apartment in Montgomery City on Tuesday evening after the child was found dead.

The cause of death of the child is pending an autopsy, the release says.

Danter was charged on Feb. 14 with felony drug possession, misdemeanor illegal possession of drug paraphernalia and knowing operating a vehicle without operable taillights, an infraction. A preliminary hearing in that case is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at the Montgomery County Circuit Court.

He was also charged in Gasconade County in September 2023 with two counts of delivery of a controlled substance, one count of illegal gun possession, drug possession, illegal use of a weapon, misdemeanor drug possession and an infraction of failing to display plates on a vehicle. A hearing in that case is scheduled for 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 27.
