Schools have traditionally been considered a safe place for children.

Parents have long trusted the American school system with their children -- kids spend most of their waking time at school during the academic year.

However, school shootings have become a brutal reality of American life. The latest took place Wednesday, claiming at least four lives in a Georgia high school. The unending violence has increased fears among students and parents.
