COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

On Tuesday, B&P Construction LLC, a Contractor for the Columbia Public Works Department, will begin work on the Grindstone Parkway sidewalk project which looks to address the sidewalk gap between Hyde Park and Norefleet Drive.

According to Columbia Public Works, crews will be closing the eastbound shoulder and bike lane of Grindstone Parkway. Lane restrictions may also be needed.

Crews will construct a new sidewalk on the south side of Grindstone Parkway between Hyde Park Avenue and Norefleet Drive.

This work will extend the existing sidewalk just east of Hyde Park Avenue until it connects with the corner of Grindstone Parkway and State Farm Parkway. A second extension will be built from just west of Norefleet Drive until it connects at the same corner.

The project is funded by the 2015 Capital Improvement Sales Tax extension, the city said in a news release. It will cost $139,200.

The project is scheduled to be completed by late fall.

This will be the second sidewalk construction project to start on Tuesday. The city also announced work will begin at Scott Boulevard and West Broadway.
