Iowa man brought to Boone County to face child sex crime charges

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Authorities brought a 54-year-old Iowa man to Boone County this week to face allegations that he molested a child over about two years in Iowa and Missouri.

Fred L. Fox of Humeston, Iowa, was booked Wednesday into the Boone County Jail on charges of child molestation, child enticement and sexual misconduct involving a child. All three counts are felonies.

The investigation began in April when a victim sat for an interview with police. It wasn't clear from the heavily redacted probable cause statement if there was one victim or more. But a parent of the victim or victims told investigators that Fox had been visiting the family since November 2022, staying for anywhere from three to 14 days at a time.

Online court records indicate Fox was arrested in Iowa in May. The charges against him were filed in April.

Fox remained jailed Thursday afternoon without bond.
