Traffic impacts expected for final day of Cattlemen Days Rodeo

ASHLAND, Mo. (KMIZ)

Saturday is the final day of the Cattlemen Days Rodeo in Ashland and law enforcement is making sure people are staying safe driving to and from the day full of events.

In a Facebook post, the Ashland Police Department advised drivers to plan routes accordingly for the Cattlemen Days Rodeo Parade that took place Saturday morning.

The Cattlemen Days Rodeo Parade began at 9 a.m. The parade left from Ashland's Optimist Club. Most of the parade route took place on Henry Clay Blvd, or US Bus Route 63, with a loop through W. Broadway, N. Main Street, and E. Ash Street.

"It's great, we have a fun time," parade goer and Boone County Circuit Clerk, Sherry Terrell, said. "Like I said, there's about 20 or so of us each time, and it is it's so much fun; I love it for the littles because they get so excited to see the truck, the trailer, the bubbles, the candy, all of that."

The parade ended around 10 a.m.

When attending the rodeo, to prevent traffic buildup on US 63 and one of Ashland's main roads, E. Broadway, guests will be guided by signs through Martin Lane when entering the city.

Due to the rodeo's arena being close to US 63, guests are also told not to park on the shoulder of US 63 and walk to the event from the highway.

According to the organizer's website, parking is limited and guests are advised to carpool.

The Cattlemen Days Rodeo has been an Ashland tradition for 50 years. The rodeo hosts many riding events at the arena, like steer wrestling, team roping, and barrel racing. Rodeo performances begin at 8 p.m. and the event is cash only.

Tickets for Saturday night are $20 for adults and $10 for kids. Children under 5 get in for free.
