Blanco’s third home run in two days helps lift the Royals to a sweep over the Reds
CINCINNATI, Ohio (KMIZ)
It seemed like Royals outfielder Dairon Blanco had the Cincinnati pitching staff's number the entire three-game series out at Great American Ball Park. On Sunday, his third home run in two days helped lift KC to an 8-1 win and a series sweep over the Reds.
Blanco's effort helped skipper Matt Quatraro's team out-score Cincinnati 28-3 in just three games time.
In Sunday's win, Blanco was the only Royal to hit one over the fences, but five other Kansas City players also registered an RBI in the seven-run win. Vinnie Pasquantino had a dominant outing at the dish, in particular, going 2-for-4 and tallying the team-high three RBI.
On the hill, Brady Singer snapped a two-game skid in shutout fashion. The pitcher improved to 9-8 overall this season after throwing for six innings, allowing just five hits and fanning six batters.
With the win on Sunday, the Royals have won six out of the club's last nine games and currently sit three games back from the first place Guardians in the central division of the American League.
Up next - Kansas City will return home to host the Los Angeles Angels at Kauffman Stadium. First pitch is set for 7:10 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 19.
