COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Mizzou fans got their first opportunity to get a first-hand look at this year's MU football team.

The Tigers held Fan Night at Faurot Field on Saturday night, culminating in Eli Drinkwitz's team closing the book on its 16th practice of fall camp. Saturday's practice was open to the public and free to attend.

With Saturday's action all wrapped up, the Tigers now have just one closed practice remaining of fall camp. After that, Mizzou will transition to preparation for its season opener against Murray State on Thursday, Aug. 29. The team is excited to finally face another team after multiple weeks of fall camp, but when they shift to Week 1 preparation, the mindset at practice will not change much.

"When we switch to Murray State mode, it's really not a flip. You get into camp, your mindset is, 'okay, the season's here, the season's now', so from day one of camp to day one of Murray State, it's still preparation for the game," Mizzou tight end Tyler Stephens said at Thursday's press conference. "This group, this team is exciting. We're ready. After four, five weeks of a long, hard camp, we're ready to hit somebody new. We're ready to go."

Drinkwitz and Mizzou's team captains are scheduled to meet with media members on Tuesday, Aug. 20 to conclude this year's fall camp.
