Tracking a cool and dry weekend with more wet weather next week

TODAY: Friday is dry and cool, notably so after yesterday's cold front. We'll have highs in the 70s and dew points in the 40s and 50s, leaving us feeling incredibly crisp. Skies are partly cloudy, with a north wind near 10 mph.

TONIGHT: Clouds remain overnight, but temperatures again fall into the 50s through early Saturday, thanks to continued north flow.

EXTENDED: Winds are variable on Saturday, but we remain cool. We'll have highs in the 70s under partly cloudy skies. Our overall pattern shifts to bring in gulf moisture Sunday through next week. Our first rain chance looks to focus in the west Sunday afternoon, but this may be enough to bring showers and possibly thunder to the Missouri State Fair by midday. Timing is uncertain, and rain chances decrease east. Rain chances are highest overnight into Monday, but we may also see rain during the day Monday. It won't be a washout, but rain chances will return daily through Thursday. Temperatures will remain cooler than average at least through Thursday, but they will be warmer, in the mid-80s. It's possible we're back near or above average by next weekend. Rain over the next week may accumulate to an inch to two inches for some, but this will be spread over a period of seven days.
