PARIS, France (KMIZ)

Mizzou swim and dive alum Clement Secchi can now add an Olympic medal to his trophy case.

The former Tiger standout earned a bronze medal for France as a part of the men's 4x100-meter medley relay team on Sunday in Paris. Secchi swam for his home country in the third leg of Saturday's preliminary round, helping his team finish with the best time in the first heat.

On Sunday, he did not swim in a leg of the relay, but still earned a bronze medal, behind the United States (silver) and China (gold). According to Olympic rules, even athletes who swim solely in the preliminary round are awarded a medal if their country medals in the final. The rule allows up to eight swimmers to medal for one relay time, if necessary.

Secchi also competed in the 100-meter butterfly at the Paris Olympics. He finished tied for 15th overall in the preliminary round, on Friday. During the semifinals, he ended up in 14th place overall, which represents the second-best finish by a male Mizzou swimmer in program history. He only sits behind Fabian Schwingenschloegl's 10th-place finish in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The 2023 Mizzou graduate was a three-time honorable mention All-America honoree in his one season in Columbia.
