Tracking more spotty storms with more rain chances over the weekend

TODAY: Friday will be much the same as Thursday, with partly cloudy skies and isolated afternoon storms. Highs will reach mid-to-upper 80s, and feel like 90s thanks to humidity.

TONIGHT: Skies cloud overnight, as an upper level low moves in from the south. Temperatures fall into the upper 60s, with mostly dry weather overnight.

EXTENDED: Skies are mostly cloudy in the south at sunrise on Saturday, with cloud cover spreading north through the morning. Scattered showers and storms will move in by noon in the south, likely making it to I-70 closer to the evening. This rain's coverage will be best in the south and east, but showers and storms are possible areawide. Rain could reach our northern counties by sunset. Some in the south may see a quarter of an inch to a half inch with locally higher amounts. Highs are stuck in the low 80s with rain and cloud cover in the forecast. Sunday's rain chances are lower as this system shifts east, but we may see morning showers and afternoon thunderstorms. Next week, we'll be tracking a series of waves, mostly north of mid-Missouri, but they may brush close enough to the region to bring a small chance for thunderstorms almost each day. These waves will crash into this part of the Mississippi river valley as upper level high pressure moves into the region. This builds heat into the 90s. Lingering humidity at the surface will likely add to create a dangerous heat and humidity combo that may necessitate an ABC 17 Stormtrack Weather Alert Day by Tuesday.
