A Jefferson City man was charged with multiple felonies after he was accused of running over another man with a car on Saturday on St. Mary’s Boulevard.

Eric Kidd was charged with first-degree assault, leaving the scene of an accident and armed criminal action. He is being held at the Cole County Jail without bond. An arraignment was held on Monday afternoon. His next court date was not released.

According to the probable cause statement, the victim told police that he was run over with a car at 11:48 a.m. Saturday. The victim allegedly told police that a dark blue Jaguar was driving “at a high rate of speed,” on St. Mary’s Boulevard in front of where the victim lives.

The victim allegedly told police that he flagged down the driver of the vehicle after it sped by a fourth time. The victim allegedly told Kidd that Kidd would not continue to drive “in that manner on a residential road,” the statement says.

The victim then told police that Kidd backed up his vehicle about 60 feet, drove at him at about 60 miles per hour and hit him, the statement says. He was brought to an area hospital with injuries. A witness also allegedly told police that they saw the victim speak with the driver before the driver backed up the vehicle and hit the man, the statement says.

Police called the owner of the vehicle, who said she would reach out to the person currently driving it, the statement says. Kidd then called back Jefferson City police, the statement says.
