Tracking a dangerous warmup settling in

TODAY: Isolated showers and storms are possible through the early afternoon but most stay dry. The rain and accompanying clouds at least limit the heat today compared to the end of the weekend. The heat index this afternoon still reaches 100 degrees in some spots.

TOMORROW: The first of a string of Weather Alert Days begins on Sunday as the heat index climbs to extreme levels. With more sunshine and hotter temperatures, the feels-like will reach 105 degrees.

EXTENDED: Monday and Tuesday are also Weather Alert Days as highs remain in the mid-90s and the heat index exceeds the 105-degree mark. Skies remain mostly sunny until late evening storms on Tuesday which become more widespread by Wednesday. This will cool temperatures into the second half of the week back into the lower 80s.
