Tracking a warmer Friday with storms possible

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy with a few showers and rumbles of thunder late. Lows near 70.

TOMORROW: Scattered showers and a few storms early. Heating up with highs near 90 by late afternoon. A few strong storms are possible after midnight with gusty winds.

EXTENDED:  Showers have developed across far northern Missouri and we could see scattered rain and storms into the late overnight hours extending through late Friday morning. A warm front lifts across the area, bringing temperatures back to near 90 and dew points back into the 70s. We could see feels like temperatures in the lower to mid-90s during the day. We'll be tracking an approaching cold front on Friday night, and that could bring a complex of storms in from the west. Some of those could be strong after midnight, but should be generally on a weakening trend before impacting much of Mid-Missouri. Winds look like the primary threat if we do see any stronger storms. Rain amounts look to total between 0.5" and 1".  Saturday looks warm again, but we could end up with a few more storms developing wherever the cold front ends up. A few of those could be strong, but the severe threat will be lower due to a lack of low level wind shear. The most likely area for those to pop up late in the day will be near the Lake of the Ozarks and the I-44 corridor. Sunday looks amazing with highs in the low 80s with sunshine and lower humidity. The cooler air sticks around into Monday, but we'll heat back up for much of next week as the upper pattern brings high pressure to our south, sending temperatures into the 90s. We'll be right along the northern edge of that high pressure by mid-week, so we could end up seeing a few storms between Wednesday and Thursday.
