MDC program teaches public to fish
With summer in full swing, many people continue to grab a fishing pole and head to their nearest hot spots in hopes to catch their dream fish. Before you hit the water, it may not be a bad idea to bring a youth with you. The Missouri Department of Conservation is offering a program called Discover Nature geared at teaching people how to fish including the proper techniques for tying hooks, baiting hooks, casting, fish habitats, different species, and how to release fish.
This program will teach anybody from six years old to 99 years old these techniques and allow hands on experience for these methods. At the end of these lessons, participants will get a crack at giveaways and even the opportunity to try their hand at catching fish in the nearby stocked lake. All supplies will be provided for use.
