Woman arrested, accused in armed robbery on Old 63 in Columbia; youth also detained
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
A woman was arrested and a youth was detained after they were accused of robbing three people on Monday in the 2700 block of South Old 63, according to a Tuesday night press release from the Columbia Police Department.
Cz’Toia De Vose, 19, of Columbia, was arrested and the name of the juvenile was not revealed, but court documents claim that person is 17 years old. De Vose is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond.
De Vose was charged on Tuesday with first-degree robbery, armed criminal action and forgery. A court date has not been set.
According to the probable cause statement, police were called to Campus Lodge Apartments around 3 p.m. Monday for a report of a robbery. The victim allegedly told police that they were assaulted during a robbery and went to University Hospital for treatment, the statement says. Officers spoke with the victim at the hospital.
The statement says the victim had a broken nose and stitches from the assault.
The victim allegedly told police that he went to Campus Lodge to sell weed and that De Vose and the juvenile gave him fake money, the statement says. The victim allegedly told police that one of the people pointed a gun at his chest, hit him in the face with the gun and took his cellphone.
A witness allegedly told police that they recognized two people at the sale and claimed the 17-year-old had a gun and pointed it at her and the victim, court documents claim.
However, police wrote in the release that "One victim reported being struck by DeVose and was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening."
The witness was allegedly able to give Snapchat information on both people and police were able to get account information based on their usernames, court documents say. Police also compared photos to driver’s license information that was available, according to court documents.
The witness allegedly received multiple Snapchat messages from the 17-year-old after the incident that apparently acknowledged a robbery occurred, court documents say.
Court documents say that another victim -- who drove the car with the other victim and witness – allegedly told police they only saw one person with a gun. That person allegedly told law enforcement that the 17-year-old threatened to rob the other victim, pointed a gun at the first victim’s head and took their cellphone, court documents say.
That victim also alleged that he was punched by another person.
De Vose allegedly admitted to police that she planned on using fake cash to take the marijuana and told the 17-year-old that she was planning on using fake cash. The 17-year-old allegedly told police that he had a BB gun.
In another case, De Vose was charged with fourth-degree assault, a misdemeanor, in Boone County and had a court date on Tuesday.
Police wrote in a press release that she was also arrested on an out-of-county warrant. A warrant was issued for her arrest on May 23 in Cole County. Court records show she was charged with second-degree tampering with a motor vehicle, a misdemeanor.
