Tracking storm chances tonight and a hot week ahead

TONIGHT: I'm tracking a line of storms that will enter to the north in areas like Chariton, Macon, and Randolph county around 7-8 PM tonight. This area and this time will be the most likely chance for stronger to potentially severe storms. Severe storms will not be widespread, and the primary concern with any severe storm will be damaging winds up to 60 mph and hail stones up to 1" in diameter. Storms and their potential to produce severe weather will fall apart as they shift further south through the overnight hours.

TOMORROW: I'm tracking sunshine by the afternoon hours with little relief from the heat as temperatures warm into the low 90s and humidity makes it feel close to 100 degrees.

EXTENDED: I'm tracking even stronger heat by Monday afternoon as temperatures warm into the upper 90s with a heat index that is expected to be in the 100-105 degree range. This is a similar story for Tuesday before a round of PM storms cools off central Missouri slightly. The second half of the week will have temperatures in the low 90s each afternoon and slightly less humidity to accompany it. More storm chances could be present Friday-Saturday.
