Former Mizzou Tiger qualifies for 2024 Summer Olympic Games

CHARTRES, France (KMIZ)

Mizzou alum Clement Secchi has officially punched his ticket to Paris. The former NCAA All-American earned second place in the men's 100-meter butterfly at the French Elite Championships on Friday to qualify for France's Olympic Swim Team.

Secchi and Maxime Grousset will represent France at the Summer Olympic Games in the 100-meter butterfly event after posting times of 51.17 and 50.52 respectively.

The Mizzou graduate became MU Swim and Dive's fifth Olympian, marking the third straight Summer Olympic Games that a former Tiger will represent the program at the competition. Mack Darragh, Mikel Schreuders, Dominique Bouchard and Fabian Schwingenschloegl are the program's only other alumni to qualify for a Summer Olympic Games.

The 2024 Summer Olympic Games are scheduled to begin on July 26 and continue through Aug. 11 in Paris.
