Policy: Schaefer's policy positions are similar to those of his primary opponent, Bob Onder. However, Schaefer is the only Republican candidate from Mid-Missouri who has actively campaigned in the primary. The Third Congressional District takes in half of Columbia and Boone County.

Schaefer's website boasts that he was critical to stopping abortions at the Columbia Planned Parenthood clinic. His priorities include border security (he supports building former president Donald Trump's border wall), cutting government spending, protecting gun rights and supporting Trump.
