Battle names new head girls basketball coach

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Battle Girls Basketball has found a leader for a new era of its program. The school announced on Monday that Chaun Davis is taking over as the team's next head coach.

"I am honored to accept the position of head girls basketball coach at Battle High School," Davis said in the school's coaching announcement on social media. "The success this program has been able to have in such a short time is astounding. My wife and I are excited to join the Battle HS and Columbia, MO community and continue that success. I would like to thank Dr. Alyssa Galbreath and Director of Athletics Sammie Symonds for allowing me the opportunity to build to the tradition at Battle HS."

Most recently, Davis spent the last two seasons as the head girls basketball coach at Union High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Before that, he served as an assistant coach at Union for multiple years.

Davis is replacing former Battle head coach Dustyn Yung, who is taking over as the head coach of Central Methodist's women's basketball program. In his last season with the Spartans, Yung led Battle to an 18-10 overall record.
