Tracking muggy summer conditions this week
THIS MORNING: Very warm starting out in the mid-70s with heavy humidity. Southerly winds and sunshine will warm temperatures quickly.
TODAY: Mostly sunny and hot with highs in the mid-90s. Heat indices could threaten triple digits today.
EXTENDED: Heat and humidity will be the rule throughout the week as upper high pressure situates just to our east, allowing upper winds to pull in warmer and more humid air from the Gulf of Mexico. Heat indices will be highest early in the week with that moisture source, with feels-like temperatures between 99-101 Monday and Tuesday. Chances of rain will be limited but we could see a few disturbances in the vicinity that allow isolated storms on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then a more organized system potentially by Saturday night into Sunday that would bring a front through the area. From there, the pattern could be a little more active to close out the last week of the month.
