Tracking a stormy Saturday and some showers Sunday

TODAY: Showers from passing thunderstorms linger early this morning, but generally drier time ensues by 9 a.m. Then, spotty showers will be possible through the rest of the morning and early afternoon. By late afternoon, we're tracking a better chance for thunderstorms. We'll be warm and humid with temperatures in the mid-80s feeling more like 90.

TONIGHT: Storms develop around 7 p.m. likely near HWY 50 or south. Storms are isolated at first, but through the evening become more widespread. They will slowly drop south as a boundary slowly pushes the storm environment south. At the same time, mean flow for thunderstorms will be west to east or parallel to the front, driving potential for what we call training storms. This will allow areas to see repeated bouts of heavy rain Saturday night, and is why an areal flood watch is currently in place for our counties south of HWY 50. Flooding is our greatest threat, with a limited wind and hail threat with storms.

EXTENDED: Sunday will likely see lingering showers in the south, but some may start dry. If you have showers Sunday morning, they are likely gone by the afternoon. Highs are cooler on Sunday north of the cold front that pushes storms away. We'll have highs in the 70s Sunday, Monday, and MAYBE on Tuesday, when we're just back to near 80. Dry weather holds for most of next week, with a weak disturbance on Tuesday unlikely to bring much in the way of rain, and another system possibly bringing rain Friday. Highs climb notably back near 90 by Thursday and Friday.
