Damage seen in Columbia after storms, power outages resolved
COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)
Power outages reported on Monday for City of Columbia and Boone Electric customers have been resolved.
There were 105 power outages reported for City of Columbia customers on Monday afternoon, according to the City of Columbia outage map.
One outage was reported at 3:19 p.m. near West Broadway and Atkins Drive, which caused 60 outages. However, ABC 17 News observed a large tree down on Manor Drive that brought down power lines.
Another 37 outages were reported near Melody Lane in south Columbia at 3:31 p.m. A third outage was reported, but a location didn't appear on the outage map.
ABC 17 News reached out to a city utilities spokesman.
In addition, there were five outages affecting 87 Boone Electric Cooperative customers, according to its outage map. One outage was reported near Southland Drive, which is south of Grindstone Parkway. That outage was reported at 3:24 p.m. and a crew was assigned to fix it, according to the Boone Electric outage map. Another was was reported just north of that previous area on Riback Road at 4:03 p.m. Another outage was reported near east High Hill Road and the third was on Monglow Lane in east Columbia. Crews were assigned to both of those outages, as well.
A storm rolled through Columbia after 3 p.m. and a thunderstorm warning was issued for Boone County until 4:15 p.m.
Additionally, a tree fell on a car in the 200 block of Highview Avenue in central Columbia on Monday. No injuries were reported.
Logan Maynard, a resident of a Columbia home, that that saw power lines fall after a tree fell, said crews were able to get the power shut off quickly.
"It was very scary, especially seeing the power line then, that was probably the scariest thing, because we have two kids. And just really worried about the rain, because electric and water and just really concerned about it," Maynard said.
Outages around the area
Earlier in the day, 175 Ameren customers lost power in Morgan County around 12:30 p.m. The power was restored within two hours.
