Tracking strong storms before midnight, cooler Wednesday

TONIGHT: Severe storms possible before midnight with damaging winds and large hail. Storms exit with temperatures dropping in the upper 50s.

TOMORROW: Partly cloudy with a few showers and storms near I-44. Cooler with highs near 75.

EXTENDED: A few showers and storms are possible near where the cold front ends up, mainly across southern Missouri on Wednesday. Thursday looks like the most calm day of the week with highs in the upper 70s to around 80 with sunshine. Another cold front approaches between Thursday night and Friday, bringing a chance for rain and storms through Friday as highs remain in the lower 80s. We'll be cooler behind that system on Saturday with more sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70s. Another disturbance will bring a shot at rain and storms overnight Saturday into Sunday, with perhaps some afternoon dry time. We'll be mild near our seasonal average on Monday with temperatures reaching the upper 70s for the holiday. Rain totals through Sunday will be between 1-2".
