Two men shot on Paris Road early Sunday morning

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

Columbia police confirmed Sunday night that two men were shot Sunday morning in the 1700 block of Paris Road.

According to a release from the department, the shooting occurred around 1:40 Sunday morning. Both men were taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Police believe the shooting occurred after a fight.

"A large physical disturbance occurred, and officers believe multiple people involved were armed with firearms that resulted in shots being fired," the release states.

It was not clear if anyone was arrested Sunday night.

ABC 17 News saw five Columbia Police Department cars at the scene with multiple officers around 2:45 a.m. Sunday.

Around 8 a.m. an ABC 17 News crew saw police put down about 49 evidence markers around the area.

Around 8:15 a.m., the crime scene tape blocking off Paris Road was taken down and traffic resumed back to normal. Crime scene tape remained up around the Imperial Coffee House and Lounge.

Around 9:15 a.m., tow trucks came to the scene to get into cars in the parking lot. Police officers were then seen searching inside the cars in the parking lot. At 9:30 a.m. the crime tape around the parking lot came down and the officers left the scene.

According to the Columbia Police Dispatch Log, there have been four reports of shots heard on Paris Road since May 19 2023. There have also been two shots fired reports during that same time period, according to the log.
