Six local athletes win state titles on first day of MSHSAA Track and Field Championships

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)

Day one of action at the MSHSAA Track and Field Championships featured six mid-Missouri athletes winning individual state championships. Eldon's Zoe Martonfi was crowned a state title winner twice on Friday, taking the top step of the podium in both the Class 3 Girls 1600m and 800m dash events. Harrisburg's Emma Fischer, South Callaway's Colten Crocker, Macon's Caelan Harland, New Bloomfield's Ben Speaks and Calvary Lutheran's Sydney Morris also each earned a state title.

    • 5th Place: Mackenzie Linnenbrink (Russellville)
  • Class 1 Girls Javelin Throw:
    • 2nd Place: Jolene Sorrells (Jamestown)
  • Class 1 Boys 4x800:
    • 3rd Place: Logan Howell, Max Van Leer, Jared Owens and Jackson Manning (Sacred Heart)
  • Class 3 Girls High Jump:
    • 6th Place: Mikala Huckabee (Eldon)
    • 7th Place: Claire Brinkman (Centralia)

  • Class 3 Girls 800m:

  • Class 1 Boys 3200m:
    • 3rd Place: Landen Chapman (Paris)

The MSHSAA Track and Field Championships continue on Saturday, May 18 for Classes 1-3, starting at 9 a.m.
