Five vehicles involved in Route B crash in Boone County

HALLSVILLE, Mo. (KMIZ)

Five vehicles were involved in a crash on Route B on Thursday in Boone County, just south of Academy Road, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report.

A 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan – driven by Joyce Sheffield, 89, of Hallsville -- was stopped in the southbound lane of Route B, preparing to make a left turn, the report states.

A 2015 Jeep Wrangler (driven by Rikki Johnson, 24, of Columbia) and a 2020 Chevrolet Suburban  (driven by Linsey Johnson, 30, of Hallsville), respectively, were stopped behind the Dodge, the report states.

Gregory Plymell, 31, of Hallsville, failed to slow down his 2014 Dodge 1500 and rear-ended the Chevrolet, which then hit the Jeep, which in turn hit the Dodge Grand Caravan, the report states.

Due to the force of the initial collision, the Chevrolet crossed the center of the roadway and hit a 2018 Nissan Pathfinder – driven by Freddie Clark, 41, of Centralia – that was heading northbound.

According to the report, Plymell and his two passengers – a 4-year-old boy and 1-year-old girl – had minor injuries and were brought to University Hospital by a private vehicle. Clark also had a minor injury, but was brought to University Hospital by ambulance, the report says. Johnson and her passenger – a 7-year-old girl – were brought to University Hospital by ambulance. The girl had minor injuries, while Johnson had moderate injuries, the report says.

All drivers and passengers wore proper safety devices, the report states.

The Dodge Caravan had minor damage, while the Jeep had extensive damage and the Chevrolet, Dodge 1500 and Nissan were totaled, according to the report.

The crash caused a temporary road closure for Route B.
