Mexico police investigating apparent accidental shooting

COLUMBIA, Mo. (KMIZ)

A 18-year-old man was shot Wednesday afternoon in Mexico, Missouri, and police say it appears to be an accident.

Officers were sent to the 500 block of North Abat Street at about 3 p.m. and found the man with a gunshot wound, according to a Mexico Department of Public Safety news release. An ambulance took the man to University Hospital in Columbia.

Police say an initial investigation indicated the man was accidentally shot by another person inside the home, police say.

No other details were released.
