Boone County man charged with five counts of statutory sodomy

A Boone County man was charged on Wednesday with five counts of statutory sodomy of a child younger than 12 years old.

Jimmy Joe Culbertson is accused of sexually assaulting a child several times. He is not listed on the Boone County Jail roster, as of Wednesday afternoon. A warrant was issued on Wednesday and his bond was denied. One of the probable cause statements says he was detained on Monday. A court date has not been set.

According to one of the probable cause statements, multiple sexual assaults were reported by one person and they were interviewed by law enforcement on Tuesday. The victim in the case described multiple assaults to law enforcement during the interview.

According to another probable cause statement, a Boone County Sheriff’s deputy was called to a residence for a suicidal person. Culbertson allegedly admitted to sexually assaulting the victim, held a gun and threatened to shoot himself, the statement says. He was eventually detained, according to the statement.
