Man accused of trying to stab cop, allegedly wanted to be shot ‘for financial gain’
JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMIZ)
A Jefferson City man was charged with three felonies after he allegedly stabbed a police patrol vehicle and threatened others on Sunday.
Lawrence Boose Jr. was charged with first-degree attempted assaulted, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. He is being held at the Cole County Jail without bond. An arraignment was scheduled for Monday.
According to the probable cause statement, Jefferson City police were called to the 800 block of Locust Street for a report of a man threatening to stab people. Police arrived and saw Boose walk out of the driveway of the residence while holding a knife, the statement says. Boose then charged at the patrol vehicle and stabbed a window, the statement says.
Boose eventually ran away after the officer in the vehicle grabbed his gun and told him to get away from the vehicle, the statement says. Boose ran in the direction where other officers were at, and a Taser was used on him and he dropped the knife, the statement says. The blade was 5-6 inches long, court documents say.
While at an area hospital, Boose allegedly told police that he wanted law enforcement to “shoot him for financial gain,” court documents say.
