The Callaway County Sheriff's Office retracted its earlier statement that it took 30 minutes for the Division of Youth Services to report missing detainees, now saying it was only a few minutes.

Three juvenile detainees fled from the Division of Youth Services custody in Fulton and are now believed to be at large anywhere in the state, according to local law enforcement. The Callaway County Sheriff's Office is assisting Fulton Police with the search.

The Callaway Sheriff's Office suspects the three juveniles stole a car in Fulton and abandoned it in Jefferson City. Law enforcement warns they could be far out of the area by now.

The three were previously charged with burglary and motor vehicle theft, according to the sheriff's office. Fulton Police and the Callaway Sheriff warn people across the state to lock vehicles, secure weapons and report any suspicious activity to 911.

Callaway Sheriff's Office provided the following descriptions of the three escaped detainees:

  • One wearing all black with red Air Force One shoes. One wearing red hoodie and black shorts. One wearing brown/black hoodie and Air Force One pants.
  • Juvenile 1: 17 year old Black male, 5'8, 130 pounds last seen wearing red hoodie and black shorts
  • Juvenile 2: 16 year old Black male, 5'9, 160 pounds
  • Juvenile 3: 15 year old Black male, 5'8 160 pounds
