Tracking a mild night, rain and storms return tomorrow

TONIGHT: Mostly cloudy and warm with lows in the mid-60s.

TOMORROW: Mostly cloudy early with temperatures rising to near 80 before more showers and storms move in by early afternoon. Some storms could be strong with isolated strong winds and 1" hail.

EXTENDED: We stay mostly dry tonight into tomorrow morning, but cloud cover keeps temperatures in the mid-60s by morning. I'm tracking a slow moving cold front that will trigger more widespread rain and perhaps even a few strong thunderstorms by afternoon into the evening. Much of Mid-Missouri is in a level 1/5 severe risk for this limited threat. Along with the potential for thunderstorms, we could see another inch of rain or so through late Thursday night. Friday is looking dry with highs in the mid-70s before another round of rain and a few storms could move in on Saturday. Timing and regional placement of rain on Sunday is still somewhat unclear, but right now the best chance looks to be south of I-70. Next week, the pattern becomes amplified again with chances of storms early in the week. Ingredients are starting to signal the potential for more severe weather.
